Oracle EBS Meets Trade Compliance

A leading provider and manufacturer of firearms, electro-optics, ammunition, airguns, suppressors, remote-controlled weapons stations, and training required process and system integration to align with U.S. Government import and export regulations.  Gerry's implementation of Agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum significantly increased process efficiency for the provider.  His ability to coordinate and manage diverse teams was vital in achieving these impressive results. 

Gerry's Role

  • Worked collaboratively and implemented the Lean-Agile framework, where the team had daily time-boxed stand-up meetings, sprints, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. The goal was always to learn from the process, validate the learnings, improve faster, and have fun with the journey.

  • To improve transparency, Gerry created a Kanban board used by +20 people, including the business user team, stakeholders & project sponsors, the engineering team, and the Oracle Development Team. He developed weekly project meeting minutes, giving the team and stakeholders updates about the projects.

  • Gerry was responsible for forecasting Sprint iterations with the product managers and concerned business partners. Gerry managed the development & system integration queue, adjusting priorities according to the needs of the business on the Kanban board and in the project management software tasks in MS Project and ClickUp.

The Results

  • Implemented a Kanban board adopted by a team of +20 people

  • Delivered 7 finalized projects in 90 days

  • Delivered 3 System-to-System integration projects in 40 days.

  • Decreased Sales Order processing time by 33% via automated trade compliance regulatory transaction checks.

  • Implemented weekly project meeting minutes shared with the team and also stakeholders

  • Facilitated all Scrum events and coached individuals in Agile processes and tools

Validating System Integration

Part of the project required integration between the customer's Oracle EBS system and the trade compliance automation SaaS solution.  Leveraging agile methodologies and testing sprints, he worked closely with business users to validate user stories against their initial requirements.  Here is an example of where he used ClickUp to build and track a UAT space for the client.
